And He Did It His Way

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final gavel.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I fear my reputation will unravel.
I've been the Speaker, that's for sure.
I've led each and ev'ry vote 'nay';
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Cocktails, I've had a few;
But then again, let's not mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without conviction.
I bumbled an uncharted course;
Each stumbled step along the hallway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I drank and drank until I'd spew.
But through it all, when there was a vote,
To throw Obamacare out.
I botched it all but took the fall;
And did it my way.
I've smoked, I've tanned and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, tears won't subside,
You find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
"No, oh no not me,
I did it my way".
I have led the House, what have you got?
No legislation: you got naught.
To say the things I truly feel;
Before each lobbyist I did kneel.
The record shows I took the dive -
And did it my way!

and from [almost] beyond the grave

No link to the original because, seriously, does anyone really care what this superannuated harridan has to say.
