Sean Duffy Says $174,000 Annual Salary Isn't Enough
And of course the newly elected Congressman is right. The Wisconsin 7th is the Dairy State's "Millionaire's Row", one of the wealthiest districts in the nation--or in any nation. Klaus van Atter (Merrill, WI) said; " My pool boy couldn't get along with a pittance like that, poor Sean." Van Atter owns Rolls Royce dealerships in Merrill, Marshfield, and Stevens Point, and the Lamborghini dealership in Spooner. Staci Williams, owner of the highly successful $2,500-a-day pet-spa chain (Rice Lake, Ashland, Superior, Prentice, Edgar) concurred with van Atter. "I mean, really, I wouldn't get out of bed for that amount of money. I think the average income in the district is somewhere in the upper six figures, and the farmers around here are making three-four times that--not including subsidies." As an indication of the wealth in the district, Williams has just announced that her spa business is adding a home-visit service for dairy cattle that includes a Dom Pérignon shampoo and gold leaf for hoofs and horns. More than 800 farms have signed on. That's the reality of it.
