Pseudologia fantastica, also known as pathological lying or mythomania, is a psychiatric phenomenon characterized by chronic, elaborate, and compulsive fabrications that mix truth and fiction, usually portraying the person in a self-aggrandizing role. Frequently linked to Cluster B personality disorders (such as narcissistic or antisocial personality traits)

Typically involves a clear motive, such as seeking attention, admiration, pity, or assistance. Lies may be a form of manipulation, mixing truth and falsehood
