1897: Indiana bill sets the value of pi to 3

HOUSE BILL NO. 246 "A bill for an act introducing a new mathematical truth and offered as a contribution to education to be used only by the State of Indiana free of cost by paying any royalties whatever on the same, provided it is accepted and adopted by the official action of the legislature of 1897.


2012: Senate panel OKs creationism teaching bill

An Indiana Senate panel has approved a bill that would allow creationism to be taught in Indiana's public schools.
The Times of Munster reported that the Republican-controlled Senate Education Committee voted 8-2 Wednesday to send the legislation to the full Senate despite pleas from scientists and religious leaders to keep religion out of science classrooms.
